IPL 2025: RR batter Riyan Parag displeased after controversial dismissal against Gujarat Titans, netizens react
New Delhi: During a Gujarat Titans versus Rajasthan Royals IPL 2025 match, Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals was controversially dismissed. Umpires ruled him out caught behind off a Kulwant Khejroliya delivery in the seventh over. Although replays indicated the ball may have brushed his bat, the bat also hit the ground simultaneously, making the decision unclear. Parag’s use of DRS, despite the apparent straightforward nature of the dismissal, and his subsequent discussion with the umpire, highlighted the ambiguity of the situation.
Rajasthan Royals faced a challenging 217-run target set by Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2025 match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday. Sai Sudarshan’s impressive 82 runs were instrumental in Gujarat’s total of 217/6.
In a match against the Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan’s captain, Sanju Samson, won the toss and chose to field first.
Gujarat’s opening batsmen, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan, had a poor start to their innings. Gill was dismissed for only two runs in the third over.
Gujarat reached 50 runs in six overs, the milestone reached off a wide delivery bowled by Sandeep Sharma.
After the captain’s dismissal, Jos Buttler and Sudarshan formed a strong 80-run partnership from 47 balls. However, Buttler’s innings of 36 runs from 25 balls ended in the tenth over when he was bowled by Maheesh Theekshana.
After the wicketkeeper-batter was out, Shahrukh Khan came to the crease. Shubman Gill’s team reached 100 runs in the 11th over, thanks to a double by Sudarshan off the final ball, bowled by Jofra Archer.
Shahrukh and Sudarshan’s strong 62-run partnership, achieved in only 34 balls, ended when Shahrukh was dismissed by Theekshana in the 16th over. The score at that point was 154.
Rahul Tewatia’s 24 runs from 12 balls and Rashid Khan’s 12 runs from 4 balls contributed significantly to Gujarat’s final score of 217/6 after 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals bowlers Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana each took two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma each claimed one wicket in their four-over spells.
