Protest against transfer of three TGTs from Fatehpur school
Up in arms against recent transfer of three Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) from Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Fatehpur in Kangra district, the members of School Management Committee (SMS) held protest demonstration at the school entrance gate on Wednesday. Led by Harnek Singh, president of the SMS, they raised slogans against the state Education Department for shifting three TGTs from the school under the pretext of a surplus number of teachers in the school.
The protestors alleged that 290 students were enrolled in the GSSS, Fatehpur but the Education Department shifted three TGTs from here to Chamba district without checking the ground reality. Harnek Singh, president of the SMS, said in GSSS, Fatehpur the average students’ strength in a class was around 65 to 70 whereas as per new education policy one teacher was to be posted on 30 students. He said in this school both English and Hindi medium subjects were being taught.
The SMS threatened to lock the school building if the Education Department didn’t revoke transfer orders of three TGTs.
The SMS has also appealed to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister to intervene and get the transfer orders cancelled in view of the larger interest of the students of Fatehpur school.
