Patna Sahib ex-Jathedar told to appear at Takht Secretariat over ‘conduct’

In his first meeting with five Sikh high priests, officiating Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj asked former Patna Sahib Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh to appear before him over alleged violation of religious ‘maryada’.

The five Sikh high priests on Tuesday unanimously passed eight resolutions and in one of them restrained Giani Iqbal Singh from taking part in any religious event till he clears the allegations levelled against him.

Iqbal Singh is not new to controversies as the Akal Takht had awarded ‘tankhah’(religious punishment) to him on July 15, 2024, for not complying with its directions.

A resolution directed all gurdwaras to make arrangements for ‘Amrit Sanchar’ on the occasion of ‘Khalsa Sajna Divas’ to be celebrated on April 13 and another resolution directed Sikh sangat to offer simple langar during antim ardas.
