Governor urges HAS officers to be guides, collaborators
“Officers should not only function as administrators but also act as guides, collaborators and friends to the common people,” said Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla during an interaction with a batch of 22 Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services (HAS) officers and probationers from the 2024 batch. The group is currently undergoing professional training at the Dr Manmohan Singh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Fairlawn and had called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
The Governor congratulated the probationers on joining the prestigious administrative services and encouraged them to dedicate themselves to public service. He emphasised the importance of commitment, integrity and a balanced temperament in administration. He also advised the probationers to stay connected with the grassroots and better understand the real concerns of the people they serve.
“While knowledge of laws and rules is crucial, what truly defines an officer is their sensitivity towards people’s problems and their commitment to solving them,” said the Governor. He stressed these officers have a vital role in contributing to the development of the state and taking the state to new heights.
Wishing the probationers success in their careers, the Governor noted the right attitude, commitment and a positive approach are essential for professional growth and for building a strong, prosperous nation.
