Blood donation camp marks birth anniv of Ahilyabai Holkar

Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, organised a blood donation camp to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Mata Ahilyabai Holkar on Tuesday. The camp was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DCSE), during which 85 units of blood were collected.

Prof Harish Rohil, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, shared that a total of 142 people registered for donating blood at the camp. He said 106 donors registered online and 36 offline. The camp was held at Teaching Block No. 5 under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi.

The chief guests on the occasion were Brahmdas, chief of Dera Bhuman Shah, and Padma Shri Gurvinder Singh from Bhai Kanhaiya Ashram. Social worker and principal (retd) Rajkumar and Dr Tejaram Bishnoi were also present as special guests at the camp.

Ranjeet Singh, a representative from National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFAA), also attended the camp.

As highlight of the event, chief guests honoured Narendra Dhamu, a researcher from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with the “Best blood donor” title for donating blood 21 times.

Students from 17 departments of the CDLU, along with 69 pupils from the USGS, participated in the blood donation drive. Besides, three professors and 13 non-teaching staff members, including Prof Harish Rohil, also donated blood at the camp. This was the first blood donation camp organised by a university teaching department at the CDLU, making it a significant event for the institution.
