Delhi: BJP slams Atishi over remarks on fee hike, alleges rift in AAP

The Delhi BJP on Wednesday criticised AAP leader Atishi for continuing to issue statements on the school fee hike issue despite the government already halting the increase. BJP general secretary Kamaljeet Sehrawat questioned the motive behind Atishi’s repeated comments and alleged infighting within the AAP.

Sehrawat said after receiving complaints about arbitrary fee hikes by private schools, Education Minister Ashish Sood had taken swift action by imposing an immediate stop on any fee hikes and ordering an audit of all private school accounts in the city. “It has been clearly stated that no school will be allowed to raise fees until the audit reports are reviewed. In that case, why is Atishi continuing to speak on the issue even two days later?” she asked.

The BJP leader claimed that the public was confused and surprised by the AAP’s contradictory messages. “It appears that the party is grappling with internal conflict, and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has failed to maintain cohesion within his team,” Sehrawat said.

She further alleged that Atishi’s ongoing remarks could be seen as an attempt to undermine her own party colleague and Delhi AAP state president Saurabh Bhardwaj. “There seems to be a cold war brewing within AAP, with different leaders pushing their own narratives. This internal power struggle is now playing out in public,” she added.

The BJP said it would closely monitor the implementation of the audit process and ensure that parents were not burdened with unjustified fee hikes. Sehrawat reiterated the BJP’s stance on transparency and accountability in school administration.
