Navi Mumbai News: MSEDCL Boosts Pre-Monsoon Repairs In Kalyan & Bhandup To Prevent Power Outages
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has ramped up its pre-monsoon maintenance and repair operations in the Kalyan and Bhandup divisions, aiming to reduce power outages during thunderstorms and the onset of the monsoon.
The electricity distribution company is conducting a comprehensive check and upgrade of the power infrastructure, including maintenance of distribution transformers (DPs), substations, high- and low-voltage lines, and trimming of overgrown tree branches that may disrupt the network. These efforts are being carried out with the help of MSEDCL employees, contract workers, and agency laborers—despite extreme heat conditions, with temperatures crossing 40°C, said a statement issued by MSEDCL.
To ensure minimal inconvenience, area-wise surveys are conducted to identify maintenance requirements. The details are then logged into the automated Network Data Management (NDM) system, which sends advance SMS alerts about scheduled power cuts to registered mobile numbers of affected consumers.
“The annual drive, typically carried out in April and May, is a standard part of MSEDCL’s preparations ahead of the rainy season. The power utility has urged consumers in Kalyan and Bhandup to cooperate during this essential work,” an official from MSEDCL said.
Zone-specific empanelled contractor agencies have been appointed to assist with the efforts, enhancing the speed and effectiveness of the pre-monsoon readiness campaign.
