Mukesh Ambani or Sultan of Brunei, Who has more wealth? One of them owns 7000 cars but…
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Brunei, a small but wealthy country with a population of around 400,000. Interestingly, Brunei was also once under British rule, much like India. While India gained independence in 1947, Brunei became free in 1984. This visit was special, as PM Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country. The visit was at the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the ruler of Brunei, who is known for his immense wealth and jaw-dropping car collection.
Sultan’s unbelievable car Collection
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah owns one of the world’s most expensive car collections, valued at nearly USD 5 billion. His garage is home to over 7,000 cars, including a gold-plated Rolls-Royce, around 450 Ferraris, nearly 380 Bentleys, and many other rare luxury vehicles. Some of the standout cars in his collection are the Lamborghini Urraco, a rare Ferrari 456 GT Venice (only 7 were ever made), and a Porsche 959 — all tucked away in one of his 200 private garages.
What about Mukesh Ambani?
On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani is one of the richest individuals in Asia and India. He is also known for his love for luxury cars, reportedly owning more than 150 of them. His collection includes top-end models like the Maybach 62, Mercedes S-Class, Bentley Flying Spur, Rolls Royce Phantom, and a black Mercedes SL500.
Ambani’s home, Antilia, has a multi-level parking space spread across 6 floors that can accommodate up to 168 cars.
Who’s richer?
While both are known for their wealth and love of cars, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s car collection alone puts him in a league of his own. However, in terms of overall net worth and business empire, Mukesh Ambani holds a significant place on the global billionaire list.
Who’s richer, Mukesh Ambani or the Sultan of Brunei?
The big question that comes up is — who is wealthier between the two?
Mukesh Ambani is the Chairman of Reliance Industries, one of India’s largest business empires. On the other hand, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei gets most of his wealth from the oil and gas sector, which powers his nation’s economy.
According to Forbes data from July 24, 2024, Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of USD 116.6 billion — that’s around Rs. 9.76 lakh crore. In comparison, Sultan Bolkiah’s total net worth is about USD 28 billion, roughly Rs. 2.35 lakh crore.
This clearly shows that Mukesh Ambani is much wealthier than the Sultan of Brunei in today’s terms. However, it’s interesting to note that back in the 1980s, Sultan Bolkiah was once the richest man in the world. He has ruled Brunei for over five decades and remains one of the world’s longest-reigning monarchs.
