Pakistan, China, Bangladesh coming together? Expert's theory hints India making secret submarines to counter trio

A Pakistan expert has suggested that Pakistan, China and Bangladesh were coming together against India, adding that Beijing could be in talks with Dhaka to build an airfield near India's 'Chicken Neck' of the Siliguri Corridor.

Qamar Cheema, an Islamabad-based academic and strategic analyst,  said during Mohammad Yunus' visit to China, there was a discussion on building a Chinese airfield near 'Chicken Neck'. He claimed that Dhaka sought military support from China.

His claims come amid an unconfirmed report that Dhaka wants a British-era base at Lalmunirhat near India's Siliguri Corridor to be developed. Bangladesh could also choose a Pakistani company as a subcontractor.

There were also reports that India is now paying attention towards the Siliguri Corridor by placing the advanced S-400 Triumf air defence system, which it bought from Russia, in the region.

The 'Chicken Neck' region connects the North Eastern part of India with the rest of the country. It also shares borders with Bhutan, Bangladesh and China.

However, Cheema claims India is aware of these developments and on an alert, possibily working on a nuclear secret submarine. "A lot is going on between Bangladesh and India. I think this airfield was discussed during the visit of Bangladesh's Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus to China," he said, adding that the project may have been in discussion even during the visit of Sheikh Hasina.

Cheema said that Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Amna Sheikh's impending visit to Dhaka also hints at the growing rapport between India and Bangladesh. He added that Pakistan intelligence officials had gone there.

There is currently no Chinese present in India's Eastern neighbourhood and China may want to change this, in a bid to signal India of its might.
