Saif Ali Khan stabbing case: Mumbai police files 1,000-page chargesheet against accused Shariful Islam

In the latest development on the stabbing case involving prominent Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, the Mumbai police have filed a chargesheet against the accused Shariful Islam Shehzad. The 1,000-page chargesheet contains details of the knife used during the attack, along with fingerprints that were found to be a match with the accused.

Quoting the police, ANI reported, "This chargesheet includes several pieces of evidence found by the police against the arrested accused, Shariful Islam. This chargesheet is more than 1,000 pages long. The report of the forensic lab has also been mentioned in this chargesheet, which states that the knife pieces found at the crime scene, from Saif Ali Khan's body and from the accused, are three pieces of the same knife."

The terrifying incident occurred in the wee hours of January 16, when Shehzad manoeuvred into Khan’s Bandra home, where he resides with his wife Kareena Kapoor and their two kids – Taimur and Jeh. Shehzad broke in with the intent of robbery and initially came face-to-face with the family’s housemaid before the actor intervened and got injured.

The Kal Ho Naa Ho actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he was treated for stab wounds on his neck, back, and left hand, and was discharged five days later. Shehzad was arrested and taken into custody on January 19 from Thane.

According to PTI, the police have noted the matter as “serious in nature” and ascertained that they have “strong evidence” to implicate the accused. The authorities have also denied a bail plea filed by Shehzad.
