Ampere Reo 80: Affordable Electric Scooter for Every Rider?

New Delhi: Ampere, the electric two-wheeler division of Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), has introduced the Ampere Reo 80, an electric scooter intended for daily commuting in India. Priced at ₹59,900 (introductory), the Reo 80 aims to be an accessible, smart, and safe option for a range of users, including new EV riders, students, senior citizens, and families.

The Reo 80 is designed to align with Ampere’s goal of wider electric mobility adoption. The scooter includes a colored LCD cluster for ride information, a safe LFP battery, and a front disc brake. It also features keyless start with a premium keyfob, dual-tone sporty color options, and a claimed range of 80 km per charge. It operates without the requirement of a license or registration.

The Reo 80 is presented as an upgrade to Ampere’s previous low-speed Reo model, which had a top speed of 25 km/h. The new model offers enhanced features while retaining a user-friendly design. Deliveries across India are scheduled to start in April 2025.

In March 2025, Greaves Electric Mobility reported a 52% increase in electric two-wheeler sales. The launch of the Ampere Reo 80 is part of the company’s strategy to address the rising demand for electric mobility solutions in India.
