Kharge Slams Modi Govt at Congress Meet in Ahmedabad, Alleges Opposition Silenced in Parliament
During the ongoing Congress National Convention at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, party president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a fierce attack on the Modi government. Joined by senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Kharge voiced strong concerns over the state of parliamentary democracy in India. He accused the central government of deliberately silencing the Opposition in Parliament, stating that members are not being allowed to speak freely on key national issues. Highlighting the lack of debate on the Manipur crisis, Kharge alleged that the government is manipulating parliamentary proceedings to cover up its failures.“The Parliament is being run in an arbitrary manner, and the voices of opposition leaders are systematically suppressed,” Kharge said. He added that the government uses its majority to avoid discussions and accountability, especially on sensitive matters like Manipur. The convention served as a platform for Congress to unify its stance against the ruling party and raise public awareness about what it sees as the erosion of democratic values. The remarks from Kharge reflect the growing tension between the opposition and the government in the run-up to upcoming elections
