Kharge Accuses Govt of Attacking Constitution, Silencing Opposition at Congress Convention
At the Congress National Convention, party president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the ruling party, accusing it of undermining the Constitution and systematically suppressing the voice of the Opposition. Kharge alleged that the government is intentionally avoiding discussions on critical national issues, such as the ongoing crisis in Manipur. He criticized the BJP-led government for prioritizing debates on communal matters while postponing vital discussions. “They hold debates on communal polarization until 3:04 AM, but the crucial Manipur issue begins only at 4:30 AM,” Kharge stated. He said such scheduling tactics are designed to bury essential topics and manipulate public perception.Kharge’s remarks were a rallying cry for unity among opposition parties and a warning about what he described as growing authoritarianism. He also emphasized the need for the Parliament to function in a democratic and transparent manner, where every voice is heard equally. The statements come amid rising political tensions and increased friction between the ruling party and the opposition over issues of governance, freedom of speech, and democratic values.
