Rajasthan CM inspects Indira Gandhi Canal
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma visited the Indira Gandhi Canal in Lohgarh, Sirsa district, on Tuesday to inspect the water supply system and discuss ways to increase water storage and improve water usage.
He was accompanied by Rajasthan’s Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat and officials from the Rajasthan Irrigation Department.
The Chief Minister gathered detailed information about the current state of the Lohgarh head and its water storage capacity. He also discussed the areas being irrigated by the canal and interacted with local residents. Upon his arrival in Lohgarh village, he was warmly welcomed by senior district officials and BJP leaders.
Sharma stressed the importance of ensuring smooth water supply during the upcoming summer. He directed officials to carry out timely cleaning and maintenance of the canal to avoid any disruptions.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister had previously visited Punjab and Haryana as part of his tour. He then travelled to areas in Haryana near the Rajasthan border to assess the use of water for irrigation and drinking purposes.
