Railway Board member visits rail coach factory
Sanjay Kumar Pankaj, Additional Member (Production Units), Railway Board, visited the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala on Monday. Upon arrival, he inspected the coach manufacturing processes in the workshop, accompanied by RCF general manager SS Mishra and other senior officers. Pankaj reviewed various types of coaches, including Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat and observed the coach shells in the shell assembly shop. He also examined the manufacturing of shell components using CNC machines, presses and other equipment.
Pankaj praised RCF’s infrastructure for enabling the swift production of coaches and provided valuable suggestions for further improvements in the process. Later, he was given a presentation detailing RCF’s production output and the manufacturing of new types of coaches during the current financial year. Following the presentation, Pankaj held an in-depth meeting with the General Manager and senior officers to discuss core issues, offering full support from the Railway Board. He advised RCF to adopt best practices to ensure the highest quality of coaches, thus meeting the satisfaction of passengers. Pankaj congratulated RCF for its production of 2,102 coaches in the 2024-25 financial year. He announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the factory.
