Guv Kataria honours students at BBK DAV College
BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, recently hosted its 56th Annual Awards Day, honouring young achievers in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, was the chief guest and presented various awards to students. During his address, the Governor highlighted the growing problem of drug abuse in the state and stressed women have a vital role to play in tackling this social challenge.
The principal, Dr Pushpinder Walia, noted the college recognises students who excel not only in academics but also in sports and co-curricular activities, thus enhancing the college’s reputation as a distinguished educational institution. She added, “With a clear message — ‘Say no the first time, every time’ — the college empowers students to resist peer pressure and make informed, conscious choices for a drug-free life.” Dr Walia reaffirmed the college’s strong support for the Governor and the government’s efforts in the fight against drug abuse.
As part of the celebrations, BBK DAV students presented a thought-provoking theatrical performance, ‘Ek Yudh Nashe Virudh’, which raised awareness about the dangers of drug addiction. Additionally, an exhibition was held to showcase the vibrant artistic creations from the college’s Departments of fashion, design, interiors, gemology, home science, applied art and fine arts.
