4.2 kg charas seized in Chamba, one held

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Chamba police seized 4.2 kg of charas in the Churah subdivision of the district. The operation took place at the Jasaurgarh, where the police had set up a special checkpoint.

During routine vehicle checking, a man attempted to flee upon spotting the police, raising suspicions. He was quickly apprehended by the officers. Upon questioning, the man failed to provide a clear explanation for his behavior, prompting the police to search the bag he was carrying. The search led to the discovery of 4.214 kg of charas.

The accused has been identified as Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Sawala. He was arrested on the spot, and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Tissa Police Station. An investigation is underway to determine the source of the contraband and whether any other individuals are involved in the illegal drug network. The police are particularly focused on uncovering whether Dinesh Kumar was part of a larger drug trafficking syndicate.

Chamba SP Abhishek Yadav said strict action was being taken against drug traffickers and that no one involved in such activities will be spared.
