3 unrecognised schools sealed in Rohtak village
Acting on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dhirendra Khadgata, a team comprising Block Education Officer Ritu Panghal, Titoli Cluster Head Saroj Nara and local police officials sealed three unrecognised schools at Sunderpur village of Lakhan Majra block on Tuesday.
This action follows the DC’s directions issued during a night-stay programme organised at the village on March 27. During the event, villagers had raised concerns about unrecognised schools operating in the area. Responding to the complaints, the DC directed the Education Department officials to take prompt action to seal such schools and ensure the enrolment of affected students in government institutions.
A list of students studying in the now-sealed schools has been sought from the village Sarpanch to facilitate their transfer to government schools, as per state guidelines. The sealing was carried out in the presence of police officials and local residents to ensure transparency. “The action has been taken as per directions from the state government. The operation to seal unrecognised schools will continue across the district,” said DC Khadgata.
District Education Officer (DEO) Manjeet Malik stated that the Department of School Education has identified 70 unrecognised schools operating in Rohtak district. The process for their closure has been initiated, and formal notices have been served to the school managements. She appealed to the residents to admit their children only to recognised or government-run schools, cautioning against enrolling them in institutions operating without proper authorisation.
The DC’s directive aims not only to uphold educational standards but also to ensure the welfare and rights of students in rural areas, many of whom are unknowingly enrolled in schools lacking formal recognition or academic accountability.
