Delhi BJP hosts event to mark Lord Mahavir’s ‘Nirvana Utsav’

The Delhi BJP on Tuesday commemorated the 2550th ‘Nirvana Utsav’ and the 2,624th Janm Kalyanak year of Lord Mahavir with a grand event titled ‘Tirthankar Lord Mahavir Gatha’ at the BJP National Office Extension. The event was held in the presence of revered Jain saint and national spiritual leader, 108 Pragya Sagar

Muniraj, who delivered a discourse on Lord Mahavir’s teachings of peace, non-violence and righteous living.

During the ceremony, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva was felicitated by Pragya Sagar Muniraj with a certificate of recognition and the title of “Delhi’s Pride” for his contributions to society and the party.

Pragya Sagar said India, being both religion-centric and agriculture-centric, had always upheld values that made it a “golden bird” in the world.

“In a country where both the Prime Minister and the President are vegetarians, the message of Lord Mahavir becomes easier to spread,” he remarked. He further added that while religion could enhance the quality of politics, it should never be politicised.

Sachdeva said, “Receiving the teachings of Lord Mahavir at the BJP office today is a matter of great spiritual fulfilment. His message of ‘Live and let live’ continues to guide us. Ever since I took Maharaj Ji’s blessings, we have seen victories in elections — first the Lok Sabha, and next the Assembly.”
