'Acid Attacks, Rape & Death Threats': Apoorva Mukhija Shares FIRST Post 2 Months After India's Got Latent Controversy
Social media influencer and actress Apoorva Mukhija, who was at the centre of the India's Got Latent controversy that erupted in February this year, shared her first post on Tuesday (April 8), exactly two months after the row began. The post included the screenshots of hundreds of comments and messages threatening her.
The first slide of the post read, "Trigger Warning: This post contains mentions of acid attacks, rape threats and death threats." The next 19 slides comprised of nothing but messages and comments filled with hate, abusive language, rape threats and death threats.
"Maa baap ne kuch sikhaya nahi kya?", "Ghatiya ladki", "Do you have no shame?", "Attention seeking behaviour", were some of the comments in the hundreds of screenshots that she shared.
"And that’s not even 1% (sic)," she captioned the post.
Minutes later, she shared another post, which read, "Don't take away the story from the storyteller".
Apoorva, popularly known as 'The Rebel Kid', faced immense backlash and even legal action after she appeared in the controversial episode of India's Got Latent alongside Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and Ashish Chanchlan. During the episode, she was seen asking a contestant if he had ever seen a vagina. She was also seen laughing at Ranveer's objectionable comment on parents having sex.
Multiple FIRs were filed against Apoorva, Ranveer, Ashish and Samay. Apoorva was also hounded and mobbed when she stepped out in the city to record her statement with the Mumbai Police. She told the cops in her official statement that the format of India's Got Latent was such that the panelists were asked to "talk openly" on the platform. She also said that the show was not scripted.
Amid the brewing controversy, Apoorva had unfollowed everyone on Instagram and on April 1, she even deleted all her posts, leaving her fans concerned.
On the work front, she was seen in the film Naadaaniyaan, however, she was absent during the film's premiere and promotions.
