Trailer roundup: 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning', 'Havoc', 'The Phoenician Scheme', 'Thunderbolts'

It was raining trailers on Monday. Around four new exciting trailers, of the most anticipated high-profile projects, were launched. Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning was the biggest, followed by Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme, Tom Hardy's Havoc, and Marvels Thunderbolts*.
As in the previous promos, The Final Reckoning trailer once again brings together clips from the previous Mission Impossible films, reiterating the idea that everything that Cruise's Ethan Hunt did before has a bearing on the events in the supposedly final film in the 29-year-old spy franchise, while also teasing bigger, riskier stunts, notably the one that has the actor hanging on to an aircraft while mid-air. The footage also teased the possibility of Hunt dealing with the further challenges caused by the artificial intellience program known as 'The Entity', along with the inclusion of new cast members.
We also got to see the first glimpse of Wes Anderson's eagerly awaited new film The Phoenician Scheme. As usual, Anderson's incredible gift for conjuring up stunning images, all composed with mathematical precision, is on full display. The film sees Anderson reuniting with Benicio del Toro, Bryan Cranston and Scarlett Johansson after Asteroid City, along with other big names such as Tom Hanks, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Benedict Cumberbatch, and other frequent collaborators Willem Dafoe and Billy Murray.
The new trailer of Tom Hardy's Havoc, which comes from Gareth Evans of The Raid and The Raid 2 films, teased more of the violent bits from the film which has Hardy playing a police officer dealing with a seemingly complicated problem. Unlike The Raid films, Evans has opted for a different approach with the action sequences, bloodshed and other mayhem that Hardy's character gets involved in. The film will hit Netflix on April 25, 2025.
As for the trailer of Marvel's Thunderbolts*, viewers seem to find it promising given that it evokes Marvel's far simpler Phase 1 in which serious character actors were introduced in a way they've never been seen before to a giant fantastical landscape featuring superheroes and supervillains, and planet-threatening scenarios. Thunderbolts* sees Sebastian Stan reprising his Bucky Barnes character, who is joined by a few characters from Black Widow (2021) such as Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, David Harbour's Red Guardian, and Olga Kurylenko's Taskmaster. The trailer also teased the film's principal antagonist The Void, playe dby Lewis Pullman.
