During the show, Winfrey quizzed her about the Indian notions of the West and more. Amongst the several questions she once asked her about the idea of public display of affection and how the nation takes it. To this Aishwarya quickly said, “It’s not something commonly seen. People do kiss, but it’s more of a private expression, not something you’d see on street corners. Art reflects life, and that’s how it’s portrayed in our cinema.”
Further, when asked about take on premarital sex and if its common in India or not, Rai responded, ““Broadly speaking, it isn’t the good thing to do.”
Apart from this, the actress also highlighted the essence of hospitality in Indians, family bonds and values and the importance of living in a community.
Later, the host asked the ‘Devdas’ actress about the misconceptions individuals have about Indians. Aishwarya Rai shared how she often faced the question, “Did you study abroad to learn the language?” She was taken aback by this assumption, saying, “Why would people think that we don’t study English? That really shocked me.”
Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan got married in 2007 and became parents to Aaradhya Bachchan in 2011. After marriage, as a couple, both actors appeared for another season of the chat show with Oprah when once again their witty replies won hearts.
