World Health Day: Anaemia-free campus campaign at MDU

With the aim of spreading awareness about anaemia and promoting its effective treatment, the ‘Anaemia-Mukt Poshan-Yukt Campus Abhiyan’ commenced on the campus of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak on World Health Day on Monday.

The campaign dedicated to the elimination of anaemia was launched by the Health Department, Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Indian Medical Association along with the MDU.

During the two-day drive, 17 teams of doctors will test the blood of nearly 7,500 girls and women, including girl students, women teachers, employees and female inmates on the university campus.

Dr Sharanjit Kaur, president, Rehabilitation Council of India, and Prof HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, inaugurated the campaign at the girls hostel complex. MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh presided over drive.

Rohtak Civil Surgeon Dr Ramesh Chander Arya and IMA local unit president Dr Aarti Sahu were also present.The Director of Institute of Public Health Sciences, Prof Munish Garg, threw light on the outline of the campaign.

As per the organisers, the campaign will include tracking, consultation and treatment of anaemia. In the second phase of the campaign, two lakh students of 249 colleges affiliated to the MDU will be covered in the campaign.
