Chandigarh: The state government on Monday posted ADGP Praveen Kumar Sinha as the chief of the Punjab Police Intelligence Department. He replaced ADGP RK Jaiswal, who has not been given any posting immediately.

1,942 Sikh pilgrims to visit Pakistan

Amritsar: The SGPC said on Monday that 1,942 pilgrims had been granted visas to visit gurdwaras in Pakistan to participate in the annual Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Vaisakhi) festivities from April 10 to 19.

Abohar: The police have registered a case against six persons for allegedly selling a 27-year-old married woman. The victim alleged she was “sold” to a man in Hanumangarh. The accused were identified as Manpreet Kaur Mani, Mandeep Kaur, Seema, Ratan Nirania, Rajinder Kumar and Pukhraj.

Youth who died in Dubai cremated

Muktsar: The body of the 23-year-old youth from Malkatora village near Malout town, Jashanpreet Singh, who had recently died under mysterious circumstances in Dubai, was cremated at his native village on Monday.

Abohar: Amarjit Bathla (85), father of SAD trade wing district president Mohinder Pratap Bathla, reportedly committed suicide on Monday. A case has been registered against three persons based on the statement issued by his son.
