Bengaluru's 'Smooch Cabs' To Allow Intimate Make Outs Amidst Traffic Jam? All You Need To Know
In the heart of Bengaluru’s chaotic traffic and never-ending hustle, a peculiar cab service caught the attention of the internet, Smooch Cabs, allegedly a private taxi designed exclusively for couples to enjoy long, intimate rides. But before you start booking one for date night, here’s all you need to know about this cab ride.
No route, just romance?
Unlike conventional ride-hailing services like Uber, Ola, or Rapido that aim to get you from point A to point B, Smooch Cabs claimed to offer something entirely different. The idea? Forget destinations, just hop in for a long, cozy drive with your partner, uninterrupted and undisturbed. The internet was quick to lap it up, imagining a cab where love takes the front seat.
Privacy on wheels
The so-called Smooch Cabs were said to come fully equipped with tinted windows and a strict 'Do Not Disturb' policy, creating a space where couples could enjoy time together without any prying eyes. In some stories, even the drivers were allegedly requesting noise-canceling headphones, because, well, 'distractions' happen.
While many netizens were amused, and some even intrigued by the idea, it didn’t take long for the truth to surface. The whole concept was actually a tongue-in-cheek marketing stunt by Schmooze, a meme-based dating app known for its Gen Z humor and viral campaigns. The fake launch aligned perfectly with April 1st, playing into the day’s tradition of harmless hoaxes.
One of the netizens on X posted,"We spotted a Smooch Cab by @SchmoozeX ??????!!! I can’t tell what happened inside but I'd give it a 10/10 for privacy." Later, she commented, “Hahahah it’s April fools day prank!!!! It’s not hidden it was literally a brand initiative, fake but brand led hi hai and since it’s a prank it makes sense I don’t disclose it because APRIL FOOLS.”
Mixed reactions online
As expected, the prank sparked a range of reactions. While some appreciated the creativity, others pointed out the inconvenience such a service might cause, especially in a city already choked with traffic. Imagining stalled cabs mid-traffic for the sake of a romantic moment didn’t sit well with many frustrated commuters.
A Linkedin user Aarti Sheth posted, “Bengaluru startup has launched 'Smooch Cabs', the service is especially launched for couples who can spend 'private time'. They said the city needs better roads, but Bengaluru chose better romance. Next up: HugAutos in Delhi and CuddleRickshaws in Mumbai? PS: This is a prank but what if it gets real :)".
