Indians who turn to telemedicine and online consultations are searching for information about hypertension, diabetes and cardiology in large numbers.
Healthcare platform Practo has looked at data from 30 million users to zero in on what health conditions were the most searched for.
One finding from this analysis was that the searches for lifestyle diseases grew by 84% over the last year, with over 60% of these queries coming from Tier 1 cities. Within this, more than eight in ten searches came from men.
Hypertension seems to be the biggest concern, with the average number of times a user sought consultation being more than the average for other health concerns combined.
However, it must be noted that increased searches could possibly be the outcome of higher awareness.

- The greatest growth in searches for diabetes came from users in Mumbai, followed by Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.
- Mumbaikars are also the top searchers for hypertension — showing a whopping 50+ percentage increase from 2023. In comparison, searches from Delhi and Bangalore. Kolkata, however, was an exception as searches for hypertension fell.
- Mumbai also topped the list for cardiology-related queries, followed by Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata.
- Weight management was a top concern for Mumbai, followed by Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.
