Indore: 4 Caught While Selling 1 Kg Stolen Gold To Jewellers; Police Bust Notorious Kharkiya Gang
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Indore police have arrested four members of the notorious Kharkiya Gang on Monday. Acting on their information, police raided several locations across the city and questioned nearly a dozen jewellers. Around 1 kg of stolen gold has been recovered so far.
Under the supervision of a trainee IPS officer, two police teams were formed. One focused on questioning the jewellers while the other handled the seizure operations. Questioning of the accused have begun and further investigation is to be done on the basis of their statements.
According to information, the key accused, Khark Singh alias Kharkiya, was the first to be caught. He revealed that the gang mainly targeted unoccupied houses. Following his interrogation, three more members of the gang were arrested. According to police sources, the gang has been involved in multiple thefts in Tejaji Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, and Aerodrome areas. During further investigation, a jeweller named Chetan from Manawar was found to be melting and selling the stolen gold.
His confession led police to other jewellers in Chhota Sarafa and Nandanagar, including Gyanendra, Gajendra alias Bunty, and Vikas. These jewellers are now under scrutiny, and stolen gold has been recovered from several of them. The police are continuing their investigation to trace more members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen goods.
