State Home Department Transfers Post Of Additional SP Of ACB To Thane Amid Surge In Corruption Cases
Mumbai: Considering the increasing number of corruption-related cases in the Thane range, the state home department has transferred the post of Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to Thane Region.
Last month, the government had similarly transferred a post of Additional SP in ACB from Amravati range to Nashik division because the number of cases registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Nashik division was much higher than in Amravati. So far this year, 20 cases of corruption have been registered in the Thane range.
State Home Department Sanctions 16 Posts Of Additional SP In ACB
In October 2023, the state home department sanctioned 16 posts of Additional Superintendent of Police in ACB, Maharashtra. The jurisdiction of Thane range of ACB consists of areas of Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, and has a large number of government offices and government officials/employees.
A total of four posts of Additional Superintendent of Police have been sanctioned in the ACB headquarters. As the number of crimes related to corruption is high in the Thane area, there is a need for the post of Additional Superintendent of Police in Thane. The ACB had requested the government for the transfer of one post of Additional Superintendent of Police from the ACB headquarters to Thane Range, officials said.
