Campus notes: PG teaching course
The Department of Orthopaedics, Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, recently organised a PG teaching course. The two-day event was inaugurated by Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr HK Aggarwal, PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal, Dean Dr Kuldeep Lalar, Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal and Head of the Department (Orthopaedics) Dr Roop Singh. Addressing faculty members and students at the event, Dr Agarwal said case discussions, X-ray examinations and ward rounds included in the course would benefit resident doctors by enhancing their knowledge. Dr Singhal said the Orthopaedics Department of the institute had always been a progressive department as it kept itself updated with the latest technology. Department head Dr Roop Singh said top orthopaedic specialists had been invited to guide the post-graduate students, which would benefit the patients. “We should not take any patient’s disease lightly and ensure that the complete history of the patient is taken, and all tests should be so that the root of the disease can be known,” he said. Dr Ashish Devgan said the course was held only at a few centres in the country. “Live presentation of cases and on-the-spot opinion of the top specialists provides the best training for the PG students,” he added. Dr Umesh Yadav said more than 100 participants attended the course, and 40 experts delivered lectures.
COMFIESTA-2K25 fest organised
Yamunanagar: Tilak Raj Chadha Institute of Management and Technology (TIMT) recently hosted COMFIESTA-2K25, a two-day festival. The event, themed “Unleashing the Leader in You”, provided students with a platform to showcase their creativity, innovation and leadership potential. Students from various colleges of Yamunanagar and nearby areas participated in the festival. Participants presented innovative video advertisements, demonstrating their ability to create compelling brand messages in ‘Ad Fusion’, which aimed to develop students’ marketing acumen and storytelling capabilities. Another contest, ‘Clutter Buster’, which aimed at promoting sustainability and resourcefulness, challenged the participants to craft unique and useful products using waste materials. ‘Mic Masters’ provided a platform for individuals to express their ideas, stories and talents through speech or poetry. A rangoli-making competition, where participants designed brand logos with artistic flair, was also held. The ‘Corporate Rendezvous’ event featured students walking the ramp in professional attire.
Komal shines in poster contest
Kaithal: Komal, a student of Indira Gandhi (PG) Mahila Mahavidyalya, Kaithal, has brought laurels to the institute by securing the first position in a state-level poster-making competition. Principal Aarti Garg said Arya (PG) College, Panipat, recently organised a state-level annual inter-college academic and cultural fest under the aegis of the Commerce Association. The event featured various competitions — including speech, group dance, solo dance and poster-making. Komal, a BA (third-year) student, bagged the first prize in the poster-making competition and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,100, along with a trophy and a certificate. Seven other students from the college participated in solo and group dance competitions at the event. The president of the college’s governing body, Ram Bahadur Khurania, congratulated Komal on her achievement.
