Hockey tourney: Round Glass defeat Khalsa Academy

Round Glass LKCW Jalandhar defeated Khalsa Academy Amritsar 7-6 after a tough match to win the 3rd Olympian Varinder Singh 5A Side Women’s Hockey Tournament today.

Jalandhar defeated Lyallpur girls 11-10 to win the third position. The winners of the tournament which was held at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women hockey ground in Jalandhar were distributed prizes by Olympian Mukhbain Singh, partner of Olympian Varinder Singh. The winning team was given a trophy along with Rs 21,000 in cash and hockey sticks by Alpha Hockey.

The runners-up team was awarded a trophy, Rs 15,000 in cash and Alpha hockey sticks. The third-placed team from Jalandhar was awarded a trophy, Rs 10,000 in cash and T-shirts. Savina Rani of Round Glass LKCW Jalandhar was declared the best player of the tournament and awarded Rs 5,100 and an Alpha hockey stick. Mahima of Khalsa Academy Amritsar was declared the best scorer of the tournament and awarded Rs 3,100 in cash and an Alpha hockey stick.

Kirandeep Kaur of LKCW Jalandhar was declared the best goalkeeper. She was awarded Rs 3,100 and an Alpha hockey stick. On the occasion, Manjit Kaur, wife of Olympian Varinder Singh, was specially honoured. During the tournament, the doctors of DAV Physiotherapy Institute provided the best services.
