Manoj Charan installed as 8th Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar, CNI

The Rt Rev (Right Reverend) Manoj Charan was installed as the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India, in a solemn worship service held at Christ Church Cathedral, Ram Bagh, on Sunday.

Bishop Charan, a distinguished leader in the Church of North India, emphasised his commitment to teamwork, spiritual growth and interfaith dialogue.

Raising the slogan, ‘Not conversion, but conversation’, he outlined his vision for the diocese, focusing on establishing peace, religious harmony and brotherhood in society.

“My vision for the diocese is to work in collaboration with all stakeholders to address weaknesses and build upon the strengths of the diocese,” Bishop Charan said. “I believe that together, we can achieve great things and make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people,” he added.

A seasoned theologian and administrator, Bishop Charan brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His previous responsibilities include serving as Bishop of the Diocese of Bombay and Acting Deputy Moderator of the Church of North India. He has also held key positions such as Moderator’s Episcopal Commissary to the Diocese of Bhopal, trustee of UC-NITA, and Director of CNITA.

The Rt Rev Silvanus Christian, Bishop of the Diocese of Gujarat, CNI, delivered the sermon from the Holy Bible during the service. Rev BK Nayak, moderator of the CNI Synod, was also present at the ceremony, which was attended by a large gathering of presbyters, laity, diocesan office-bearers and notable members of the Christian community and civil society.
