LPU students, alumni visit Parliament, meet top leaders

Over 50 students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently visited Parliament, where they had the privilege of meeting and interacting with several political figures.

Among those they met were Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice-President; Mallikarjun Kharge, president Congress; senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Derek O’Brien, AITC MP; Renuka Choudhary, former Union Minister; Dr Sandeep Kumar Pathak, AAP MP; and M Anil Kumar Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP from Telangana. The leaders shared invaluable insights into the working of the country’s Parliament.

The visit was facilitated by LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, who highlighted the importance of such experiences for students. He stated, “It is essential for the youth of our nation to experience first-hand how the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha function, as these institutions play a crucial role in shaping India’s future. Such experiences help cultivate civic awareness and a deeper sense of responsibility among students.”

During their visit, the students also had the rare opportunity to witness a live Rajya Sabha session, gaining insights into the legislative processes that impact the country’s decisions. The architectural grandeur of Parliament left a lasting impression on the students, who were awestruck by the symbol of India’s rich diversity and strength.

Vishnu, a final-year B Tech student in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), reflected on the experience: “Visiting the Parliament was truly overwhelming and transformative. Walking through the corridors of power filled us with a deep sense of patriotism and purpose. It inspired us to engage more meaningfully with society and contribute actively to the nation’s progress.”
