BJP leader lauds Home Minister’s stand on Naxalism

BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal has lauded Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s firm stand on Naxalism, calling it a historic and decisive move to eradicate left-wing extremism from India.

In a statement, Grewal commended Shah’s recent declaration as a “bold and strategic offensive,” designed to reclaim every part of Indian territory from the grip of Naxalite insurgency. “This is more than just policy; it’s a clear and unequivocal message to those who choose violence,” he emphasised.

Grewal particularly welcomed Shah’s announcement of a Rs 1 crore development fund for each village that actively contributes to eliminating Naxalism. He described this initiative as a “masterstroke” that seamlessly blends developmental support with national security goals. “This approach not only strengthens villages but also weakens the insurgency at its roots,” he said.

On the issue of the rehabilitation package for surrendered Naxalites, Grewal supported the government’s dual strategy of strict law enforcement alongside meaningful reintegration. Grewal also praised the government’s initiative on directly purchasing tendu leaves from tribal gatherers at Rs 500 per stack, calling it a “landmark reform”.

He emphasised that the move would not only empower tribal communities but also dismantle the economic base of Naxal propaganda. “This step will uplift millions while dismantling the false narratives spread by extremists,” he added.
