Mandi pensioners’ assn reviews achievements, elects new body

The general meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Pensioners Welfare Association, Mandi, was held today under the chairmanship of district president and state vice-president Harish Sharma. The meeting focused on reviewing the association’s activities and achievements over the past three years. Financial accounts were presented and unanimously approved by the attendees.

A major highlight of the meeting was the successful completion of key initiatives, including the construction of the “Pensioner Bhavan”, establishment of a shelter at Bhangrotu for attendants of patients, and a guest house near the Medical College in Chowk to accommodate families of the ailing. Additionally, library and office facilities were set up for pensioners of the Bal Unit during elections.

The association also made notable efforts to address pensioners’ concerns by engaging with the Chief Minister and state ministers, resulting in the resolution of several long-pending demands.

During the proceedings, the existing executive body was formally dissolved, and a new leadership team was appointed. Harish Sharma was unanimously re-elected as President, with Roshan Lal Kapoor as General Secretary, JS Chandel as Senior Vice President, and Kuldeep Sharma as Treasurer. Ranpat Singh Rana, Nagendra Kapoor, and Dr Om Raj Sharma were entrusted with forming the complete executive committee.

The meeting was attended by representatives from 15 block units, including notable members like Revati Ram Sharma, Hetram Thakur, Kuldeep Guleria, and others, who praised the achievements of the outgoing executive body and pledged their continued support.

Over 170 delegates, including several state committee members such as Dr K Malhotra, Suraj Thakur and Ramchander Chauhan also attended the meeting and endorsed the decisions taken.
