2-day Tungal festival ends with cultural extravaganza
The two-day Tungal festival, organised by the Tungal Kala Manch at Kotli in Mandi district, concluded on a grand note with a vibrant cultural celebration today. The event was graced by retired district attorney Netar Singh Katoch as the chief guest, with Additional Superintendent of Police Badri Singh presiding over the ceremony.
During the closing ceremony, chief guest Netar Singh Katoch congratulated the organisers for their successful event and generously donated Rs 25,000 to support future activities. The guests were warmly welcomed with traditional drum beats and flower garlands.
The festival also honoured several distinguished personalities, including Manjula Sharma, who completed her PhD in Tungal Nati research, and other notable figures like Harish Sharma, District Public Relations Officer Hemant Sharma, Dr Mast Ram, and Beeri Singh Shastri. They were presented with shawls, caps and mementos by event organizers, including Prashant Mohan, Bhuvnesh Thakur, and others.
The event also featured performances from local artistes, including a song by teacher Jodh Singh and musical performances by Sarwan Singh and folk singer Dalip Saklani, which captivated the audience. Over 30 women’s groups participated, offering local delicacies, which were greatly appreciated by attendees.
This year’s Tungal festival was a vibrant showcase of local culture, heritage and community spirit.
