From today, junk vehicles outside houses to be confiscated in Yamunanagar
The Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation has decided to confiscate junk vehicles kept outside houses, shops and other places in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
The MC will also confiscate sand, gravel, iron rods and construction and development (C&D) waste from roadsides from Monday.
The move comes as part of the MC’s initiative to beautify the twin cities ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the district.
The PM is set to lay the foundation stone of a new 800 MW unit of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Pansara village on April 14.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhargava said cleaning of roads, painting of dividers and trimming of trees was being done as part of the drive.
“Junk vehicles and other items lying on roadsides and outside houses and shops shall be confiscated from Monday by MC teams,” Bhargava added.
He said the confiscated vehicles would be released only after the payment of the prescribed fine amount.
In a meeting with officials of the MC, Bhargava instructed all sanitation inspectors to improve the cleanliness system in their respective areas.
He said the work of removing encroachments from the roads and markets of the district should be expedited.
“I have asked the officials of the MC to take action against persons who are selling banned polythene bags and other single-use plastic items,” Bhargava added.
MC officials have also been instructed to get street vendors shifted from roadsides to vending zones.
Regional Taxation Officer Ajay Walia, CSI Avinash Singla and Sanitation Inspector Sushil Krishna Kumar were among those present at the event.
