Thane News: BJP Leader’s Office Vandalised In Ambernath In Sword Attack
Around two dozen assailants armed with swords allegedly attacked the BJP office of former corporator Rohit Mahadik in Ambernath late Saturday night, reportedly over an old enmity. The incident occurred around 11pm on B Cabin Road. Mahadik was not present at the time, but office-bearer Krishna Gupta and another individual were inside during the attack.
Police said the assailants, with faces covered and armed with swords, stormed into Mahadik’s office and began vandalising furniture and other items. When Gupta tried to intervene, he was injured while attempting to defend himself.
They allegedly vandalised the office, smashing glass and chairs, before fleeing the scene. The identified accused include Ashutosh Karale alias Dakya (23), Rafique Shaikh (25), and ten others.
Police rushed to the scene upon receiving the alert, seized CCTV footage, and conducted a panchnama.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita.
According to police, the entire incident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing the assailants' intent to kill.
Senior Inspector Ramesh Patil of Shivaji Nagar Police stated, “Prima facie, the attack was fueled by old enmity. We’ve formed two teams and launched a manhunt for the accused.”
