Bangladesh plans to trouble India, Yunus showed way to Pakistan, China to come closer to Kolkata, PM Modi plans to…. Xi Jinping to…

Dhaka: Bankrupt Bangladesh has been witnessing a slew of economic and internal issues since Sheikh Hasina resigned from the prime ministerial post. The interim government under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus has been accused of safeguarding radical groups who have unleashed violence on the minorities. In terms of foreign affairs, the Bangladeshi government has been taking steps that align the country more closely with China and Pakistan, posing new challenges for India.

Yunus has allowed Pakistan to come as close as just 120 kilometers from the Hasimara Air Force Station. He has also entrusted China with the task of upgrading the Mongla Port. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi Air Force officers are heading to Pakistan to receive training on JF-17 fighter jets. All these developments are certainly increasing India’s concerns.

As per the Telegraph India report, Bangladesh’s chief advisor, Mohammad Yunus, has taken several decisions that have raised concerns about India’s security. Yunus has granted China permission to access the Mongla port, which is located just 180 kilometers from Kolkata. It is important to note that India has long been trying to curb China’s influence in the Indian Ocean. Now, the Chinese presence near Kolkata is a growing concern for India.

Increasing Influence of China and Pakistan in Bangladesh

Yunus has even paved the way for the Pakistani army to increase its proximity to India’s eastern border. Recently, the Bangladesh Air Force announced that five of its senior officers will undergo training in Pakistan for JF-17 fighter jets. These aircraft have been jointly developed by Pakistan and China. The JF-17 jets will be deployed at the Lalmonirhat airbase, which is only 120 kilometers from the Hasimara Airbase. Hasimara is located near the Siliguri Corridor, also known as the “Chicken’s Neck,” which connects India to its northeastern states and holds significant strategic importance.

There has been concern over China’s presence to the north of India’s ‘Chicken’s Neck.’ Now, the Chinese will also be present to its south as they are gaining access to the Mongla port. In addition, the presence of Pakistani military personnel will also be closer to India’s border, as their fighter jets are arriving at Lalmonirhat airport. It is clear that due to Bangladesh, China and Pakistan have reached India’s doorstep. The possibility of a threat to India’s security from this development cannot be ruled out.
