Agri varsity signs MoU with Bureau of Indian Standards
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) with the objective of promoting harmonisation, standardisation, conformity, evaluation and quality of goods, articles, processes, systems and services.
The MoU was signed by representatives of the two bodies in the presence of Vice-Chancellor BR Kamboj and Deputy Director General (North) Sneh Lata of the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, SK Pahuja signed the MoU. The VC said the pact was an important step for agriculture and industry.
“This agreement will strengthen mutual cooperation between the two institutions, and will play an important role in promoting high quality standards in the country,” he said.
Under the agreement, research and development projects related to standardisation and conformity assessment would be promoted, he added. Lata said seminars, workshops and training programmes would be held under the pact.
The work under the agreement would be accelerated by establishing Centres of Excellence in the field of conformity assessment and establishing coordination between scientists and experts of the university, she added, stating that BIS would draft an action plan to use the facilities provided in the university laboratory for conformity assessment schemes.
