Mumbai Burglar Flew In From UP, Committed Thefts And Escaped By Flight; Arrested In Thane
Mumbai: In a dramatic breakthrough, Mulund Police have arrested a notorious burglar from Uttar Pradesh who used to fly to Mumbai, commit house break-ins, and return home by air. The accused, identified as Rajesh Arvind Rajbhar (32), has multiple burglary cases registered against him in Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.
At a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Vijaykant Sagar revealed that Rajbhar, a resident of Lalganj, Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh), had been involved in burglaries since the age of 14. On March 17, he allegedly broke into a house in Mulund in broad daylight and stole valuables worth ₹4 lakh.
According to police, Rajbhar would fly from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai, commit 10–12 burglaries within 15 days, and flee by flight before he could be tracked. He arrived in Mumbai on March 13, 2025, and between March 13 and March 29, he targeted homes in Mulund, Bhandup, Nehru Nagar, and Ulwe. However, before he could strike again, he was arrested in Kalwa, Thane.
Under the guidance of DCP Vijaykant Sagar, ACP Sandeep More, and Senior PI Ajay Joshi, the investigation was led by Inspector Nitin Khadge and Crime Detection Officer API Sunil Karande. Using CCTV footage and information from informants, police tracked Rajbhar’s movements and apprehended him.
Mulund Police have recovered stolen property, including 28 tolas of gold and 2 kg of silver. Further investigations revealed that Rajbhar’s brother-in-law had also been arrested earlier for burglaries in Solapur. Police suspect that the duo came to Maharashtra together, with Rajbhar targeting Mumbai, while his brother-in-law focused on Western Maharashtra.
The arrest has helped solve multiple house break-in cases, and authorities are now probing whether Rajbhar is linked to other crimes across the state.
