According to reports, Russia’s vast mineral reserves, including the largest known reserves of natural gas on the planet, are worth a gargantuan $75 trillion. For comparison, United States, which boasts the second largest amount of mineral resources, are valued at a total of $45 trillion.
Russia’s natural gas reserves, the largest in the world, equivalent to 1.32 quadrillion cubic feet, are about 20 percent of the total reserves of the world, as per experts.
Besides natural gas, Russia also has the second-largest reserves of gold, pegged at around 6,800 tonnes, which makes up almost 13 percent of the total gold reserves discovered so far on earth.

Additionally, the Russia is the third largest producer of crude oil, and boasts the world’s sixth largest oil reserves, pegged at a staggering 107.8 billion barrels.
Similarly, Russia’s share in the global production of diamonds is 37 percent, and has 46 percent of total diamond reserves on the planet.
Top 10 countries with largest mineral resources
As mentioned above, Russia tops the list of countries with largest natural resources on the planet, while US, the world’s largest economy, has reserves worth $45 trillion, around 90 percent of which are in the form of timber and coal.
US is the world’s largest producer of coal, and also has huge reserves of copper, gold, oil and natural gas. Additionally, the US is the largest producer of crude oil, and also has lead, molybdenum, phosphate, rare earth minerals, uranium, bauxite, iron, mercury, nickel, potash, silver, tungsten, zinc, and petroleum in abundance.
Saudi Arabia ranks third on the list with natural resources worth $34 trillion. The oil-rich kingdom has 15 percent of the world’s oil reserves.
Canada, which has the world’s largest oil reserves after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, sits at the fourth spot with resources valued at $33 trillion, while Iran, the world’s second-largest producer of natural gas, and the arch nemesis of the US and the West, has mineral wealth estimated to be valued at around $27 trillion.
China, the world’s second-largest economy, has natural resources worth $23 trillion, followed by Brazil ($22 trillion), Australia ($20 trillion), Iraq ($16 trillion) and Venezuela ($14 trillion).
Meanwhile, India, despite its gigantic size, only has natural resources worth around $500 billion.
