Three booked for murder bid
The Nurmahal police have booked three miscreants on the charges of attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and sexual harassment. The accused have been identified as Manga and Ravi of Gumtali village and Sachin of Malsian village. Vinod Singh of Gumtali village complained to the police that the accused Manga was harassing his daughter and asking her to make friendly relations with him otherwise he will kill his father or brother.
He said he along with his son Amarinder went to the house of Manga on April 1 and requested his mother to stop her son from such activities.
The complainant said his brother Varinder Kumar went to Nurmahal in the evening and when he was retuning home, the accused and their accomplices waylaid him at Cheema Chowk on the Phillaur road and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons with an intention to kill him. They damaged his scooter and snatched his purse, mobile phone and a silver chain and fled.
He said he rushed his brother to the Nurmahal community health centre from where he was shifted to the Jalandhar Civil Hospital and Jalandhar doctor referred him to Amritsar but he admitted his brother in a private clinic.
The SHO said a case under sections109 (attempt to murder) 309(4) (robbery) 75 (sexual harassment) 351(2) (criminal intimidation) 115(2) 118(1) (causing grievous hurt) 191(2) (rioting) 190 (unlawful assembly and 324(4) (mischief) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
