Campus notes: Award for innovation & research

Dr Gurjeet Singh, vice-principal of CKD Institute of Management and Technology, has been honoured with the prestigious National Innovation and Research Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of cyber security. The award was conferred during the international conference organised by the IMRF Institute of Higher Education and Research, Andhra Pradesh. Dr Gurjeet Singh received this recognition in acknowledgment of his continuous research, academic excellence and significant contribution to the field of cyber security. His impactful work has not only advanced industry practices but also made a meaningful difference in safeguarding digital infrastructure. Chief Khalsa Diwan members extended their heartfelt congratulations to Dr Gurjeet Singh.

Awareness camp at GNDU

Amritsar: The Department of Psychology successfully organised a “Mental Health and Nasha Mukt Samaaj Layi Jagrookta Camp” in Ranghadh village, Amritsar. The initiative was a significant step towards promoting mental health awareness and combating substance abuse in rural Punjab. The camp focused on key areas, including “Family awareness – Emphasising the role of families in preventing drug addiction and supporting rehabilitation; Impact of drugs – Discussing the psychological, emotional and physical consequences of substance abuse; Rehabilitation strategies – Exploring effective ways to help individuals recover from addiction; and, Community involvement – ??encouraging social initiatives for a drug-free society. Their concerns were addressed by Dr Rupan Dhillon (Head, Department of Psychology), Dr Balbinder Singh (Assistant Professor, Psychology), PhD scholars and diploma students from the department. The camp witnessed overwhelming cooperation from Suman Preet Kaur (Sarpanch, Ranghadh) and her husband, Shamsher Singh, whose efforts contributed significantly to the success of the event.

Session on legal, ethical issues

Amritsar: The planning forum under the aegis of Post-Graduate Department of Economics in collaboration with IIC organised a session on “Startups: Its legal and ethical issues” under the guidance of principal Dr Amardeep Gupta. Dr Gupta shared that as the startup ecosystem continues to thrive, entrepreneurs must navigate both legal and ethical landscapes to build sustainable and responsible businesses. Head of the Department of Economics, Dr Kamal Kishore, said that ensuring compliance with legal frameworks while upholding ethical values is crucial for long-term success and trust. The resource person at the session was CA Abhishek Beri. He gave a detailed presentation about the various legal steps for startups like business registration & licensing, tax compliance issues, intellectual property protection, employment laws & contracts, data privacy & security.
