Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests PSPCL lineman for taking Rs 10,000 bribe
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Jasveer Singh, a lineman with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. Singh, posted at PSPCL’s north division in Patiala, was caught while accepting the bribe.
According to an official spokesperson of VB, the arrest was made based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Patiala. The complainant had approached VB after Singh allegedly demanded a bribe to install a new domestic electricity meter at his home.
After verifying the complaint, the VB team laid a trap and caught Singh accepting the bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The bribe money was recovered from Singh’s possession.
A case has been registered against Singh under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station, Patiala Range. Further investigations are ongoing to determine if more individuals were involved in the case.
