Barkha Bisht Says Ex-Husband Indraneil Sengupta Is Not Involved In Their Daughter’s Life: ‘He Couldn’t Give Me Loyalty…’
Television actress Barkha Bisht, who was once married to actor Indraneil Sengupta, recently shared insights into her personal life, discussing her struggles post-divorce and her journey of raising their 13-year-old daughter single-handedly. Barkha and Indraneil, who tied the knot in 2008 after working together on 'Pyaar Ke Do Naam Ek Raadha Ek Shyaam', officially parted ways in 2022.
Indraneil Sengupta not involved in daughter's life
In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Barkha revealed that Indraneil is not actively involved in their daughter's life. She acknowledged the situation with a heavy heart but has accepted it as her reality. Dispelling assumptions that she might be preventing her ex-husband from seeing their child, she clarified, “I still have a lot of love for Indraneil. I don’t know about respect, but love. I have spent beautiful 15 years of my life with him. I never wanted to spoil his relations with his daughter. I am not the kind to do all this. When he couldn’t give me loyalty, love, and stability in a marriage, what will I do with anything else?”
Barkha also spoke about her daughter's emotional maturity, expressing that while she admires her strength, she wishes her child did not have to grow up so quickly.
Coping with Divorce while managing career
Barkha recalled that she was filming for ‘Safed’ (2023) and ‘1920: Horrors of Heart’ (2023) during her divorce, making it a particularly challenging time for her. She found solace and support in several industry figures, including director-producer Vikram Bhatt, actor Suniel Shetty, and filmmaker Sandip Ssingh.
“Vikram is an eloquent speaker and he would talk to me during 1920 shoot. He would ask me to vent it out. It was like I was taking therapy while also shooting for my film. Sandip and Vikram were like my therapists,” she said. She also credited Suniel Shetty for regularly checking up on her, revealing, “Every two days, he would drop me a text: ‘How you doing today?’ I would cry to him too while shooting for a project.” Sohail Khan, her co-star in the web series Hunter: Tootega Nahi Todega, also played a role in supporting her through tough times.
Barkha Bisht says Indraneil Sengupta cheated on her
In the same interview, Barkha also shared that Indraneil had been unfaithful, a revelation that deeply affected her.
Barkha admitted that despite her efforts to salvage their marriage, Indraneil ultimately chose to leave. Reflecting on their relationship, she said, “Indraneil chose to move out of the marriage for reasons best known to him. If it were in my hands, I would still be married. We had a good marriage. For four years, I have constantly felt that I wish I was lesser in everything—maybe things could have been okay. Infidelity, cheating, is a choice. The second choice is what you do after that.”
Rumours had circulated about Indraneil's affair with Bengali actress Ishaa Saha, and Barkha shared that when she confronted him, his response was far from satisfactory. She said, “Indraneil made a choice—maybe he can justify it now. He can give a hundred reasons, as he has to justify his actions.”
