Hyundai Maintains Firm Grip Against Mahindra, Tata; Retains Second Spot In FY25 Sales

It's a battle for the second position as Hyundai keeps the crown as it maintains its lead over arch rivals Tata and Mahindra. In FY 2024-25, Hyundai had sold 5,98,666 units in the domestic market while for the same period, Tata sold 5,53,585 units, while Mahindra had sales of 5,51,487 units.

While the year saw a tough fight with Mahindra and Tata doing numerous launches, Hyundai keeps the second spot. For Hyundai, SUVs contributed near 70 percent of its total sales while the same can be said for Tata Motors where SUVs also contributed more than 50 percent of the sales.

For Mahindra it has been a big year too as it recorded growth on the back of new launches like the ROXX while the Scorpio N and the other new cars like the XUV 3XO also did well.


For Hyundai, the Creta is also a huge seller and its best selling car as it was India’s No. 1 SUV in Jan-Mar quarter of FY 24-25 with 52,898 units.

The Punch from Tata Motors is also their best seller and the no1 SUV overall in FY 2024-25. Equally for Mahindra their PV sales have surged indicating continuous rising interest for SUVs.


It is clear that Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra are having SUVs as its most successful product and it will continue to be so this year.
