ChatGPT now lets free users create Ghibli-style AI images – Here’s how!
The image generating feature of ChatGPT was first made available to premium customers, but OpenAI is now making it available to free users as well. Users have discovered methods to produce graphics in the manner of Studio Ghibli, however because of the enormous demand, free users are only able to produce three generations every day.
It appears like OpenAI is now making ChatGPT’s native picture generating feature available to free users after a short wait. We attempted to ‘Ghiblify’ a few photographs using multiple free ChatGPT accounts, and the feature functioned well. However, neither OpenAI nor its CEO, Sam Altman, have formally announced whether the feature has been made available to free users.
On March 26, OpenAI made the native picture generating feature available to all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users globally. Social media users then started transforming their photos into real-life images in the style of well-known anime films after falling in love with the artwork created by Japan’s Studio Ghibli.
However, as free users were not able to utilize this functionality, they were forced to use substitutes like Gemini or xAI’s Grok chatbot, which worked well but produced less detailed photographs than the OpenAI model.
Here are some Ghibli-inspired AI pictures that we produced with ChatGPT.

How can I use ChatGPT to make Ghibli-style AI images?
1) Visit the ChatGPT app or website.
2) Click the “+” symbol in the lower left corner to upload your picture.
3) Type “Ghiblify this” or “use the Studio Ghibli theme to transform this image.”
4) The desired image should appear in the manner of Studio Ghibli. Click on the download option to save it.
Limit on ChatGPT image generation for free users
OpenAI later imposed limitations on image generation for both paid and free users due to the high demand, which CEO Sam Altman claimed was “melting” their GPUs. During the rollout, the company did not discuss a limit on native image generation.
Up to three image generation per day will be available to ChatGPT free users as of OpenAI’s most recent release on X (previously Twitter).
What is native image generation?
This is not the first instance of ChatGPT producing photos. The major catch is the native picture generating power that the chatbot has recently acquired, even though it has been providing these services to free users for some time.
Native image generation: what is it? Instead of depending on external models like DALL-E 3, native image generation refers to the chatbot’s capacity to create and modify images directly utilizing its multimodal capabilities. Even while Gemini supported native picture generation before ChatGPT, OpenAI’s chatbot has undoubtedly become more popular with the general public.
