Antilia vs Burj Khalifa: The Antilia, the palatial mansion home of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, is one of the world’s most expensive private residences, estimated to be worth a staggering Rs 15,000 crore. Ambani’s grand 27-storey mansion, located on the posh Altamount Road in Mumbai’s Cumbala Hill, is spread across 4,532 square meters, or 1.120 acres of land, and has features the best luxuries money can buy, including a gym, a spa, private theatre, terrace garden, swimming pool, three helipads, a snow room, apart from a temple and healthcare facilities.
But how does the Ambani house compare to Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, which is regarded as one of the most expensive apartment buildings in the world, with a single-bedroom unit costing a whopping 150,000 to 180,000 Dirham (over Rs 42 lakh) in annual rent, making it a symbol of unparalleled opulence which only a few can afford.
Antilia or Burj Khalifa- Which cost more to build?
Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s Antilia, which is valued at a whopping Rs 15,000 crore, was built for a staggering $2 billion (Rs 17,400 crore), according to reports. The ultra-luxurious mansion home, which perfectly exemplifies the lavish lifestyle of the Ambanis, is named after a mythical Spanish island, and was designed by Perkins and Will, an American architecture firm, who incorporated anti-earthquake features into the building.
As per reports, the Antilia is designed to withstand earthquakes of up to 8.0 on the Richter scale, and the mansion’s grandeur can can be gauged from the fact that each floor of the 27-storey building features a different floor plan and design, with its interiors adorned with Lotus and Sun shapes.
On the other hand, the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building which is the centerpiece of Downtown Dubai, cost approximately $1.5 (about Rs 12,500 crore) billion to build, according to reports. The lavish apartment building, developed by Emaar Properties, a prominent Dubai-based real estate firm, was built over a span of six years (2004 to 2010).
Interestingly, both Antilia and Burj Khalifa were built during the same time period, with construction on Ambani’s mansion commencing in 2006, and the building completed in 2010. The Ambani family started living in the Antilia from 2011, almost a year after its completion, reportedly because the building was not built according to Vastu Shastra.
Burj Khalifa and Antilia- Luxuries and amenities
As one would imagine, both Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia and the Burj Khalifa boast all the best luxuries money can buy. The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building, standing at an imposing 2,722 feet (829.9) tall, from base to the tip of its famous spire, while the Antilia, the lavish mansion home of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani is 27-storey tall skyscraper, standing at 173 meters (around 567 feet) tall.
The Ambani house has every top-of-the-line facility one would imagine at its price point, including a fully-stacked gym, a spa, a 50-steater private theatre, terrace garden, indoor swimming pools, several helipads, a snow room, apart from a temple and in-house healthcare facilities.
Meanwhile, Dubai’s majestic Burj Khalifa is arguably one of the expensive apartment buildings in the world, featuring 163 floors that are reached with the help of as many as 58 state-of-the-art elevators. The towering skyscraper, whose tip is visible from as far as 95 kilometers away, houses 304 luxurious hotel rooms, and 900 high-end apartments, and takes three months to clean the entire exterior of the building.
