'From Neha Khan To Neha Sharma': Heartbroken Over Pahalgam Terror Attack, Muslim Woman Embraces Hinduism (VIDEO)
Heartbroken over the Pahalgam terror attack, a Muslim woman named Neha Khan embraced Hinduism with rituals on Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
The young woman converted to Hinduism with support from the Hindu Raksha Dal. During this event, the outfit's president was also present. After the conversion, the woman changed her name from Neha Khan to Neha Sharma.
Neha Sharma said that the terrorist attack in Pahalgam deeply shook her. She explained that when she saw how the terrorists asked for Hindu identities before killing them, she felt that the Muslim religion had become synonymous with terrorism. She said that every Muslim began to appear like a terrorist to her. Because of this emotional trauma, she decided to adopt Sanatan Dharma.
During the religious ceremony, Neha also tied a "raksha sutra" (sacred thread) on Pinky Chaudhary and asked for a vow of protection. Neha stated that she will now proudly declare herself a daughter of Sanatan and that others in the Muslim community should also consider this path.
Neha's conversion has sparked debate on social media, with many netizens questioning the Brahmin surname given to her.
A user named Pratik Patel wrote, "A Dalit can never directly become a Savarna (upper-caste), but these people are making a Muslim directly into a Savarna. Why was this girl named Neha Sharma? Why not: Neha Yadav, Neha Jatav, Neha Valmiki, or Neha Kumari? Why weren't any of these names chosen?"
While another alleged that the law permitting conversion is partial toward the community, saying, "In Ghaziabad, a Muslim girl named 'Neha Khan' was converted and renamed Neha Sharma. Why is the administration not taking any action when Muslim girls are openly being converted to Hinduism? On the contrary, if a Hindu girl converts to Islam, the administration acts immediately and even registers cases under serious charges."
"Why this double standard?" he questioned.
