Pakistani actress Hania Aamir becomes a meme target after Indian fans send her water bottles, Watch viral video

The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, India, has taken the entire nation by storm.  Not only did it shake India, but it also evoked a wave of political and emotional reaction on both sides of the border. Considering the tension between Pakistan and India since the attack, India issued a strict five-point action plan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960.  However, in between this tense atmosphere,  a viral video made with the intention of humour has been doing the rounds on the internet, which is sparking controversy for Hania Aamir.

After the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, Hania Aamir, who shares a huge fan base in India, got into an uncalled controversy. A bunch of her Indian fans shared a video filling a carton with water bottles that read “To Hania Aamir. Rawal Pind. Punjab, Pakistan.”. From India.” The video was allegedly created as a meme in response to India’s five-point action plan.  The satire was intended to comment on Pakistan’s current water crisis amid heightening India-Pakistan tensions.

What may have been intended as a light-hearted video soon drew the ire of netizens who criticized the timing as particularly inappropriate. With lives lost and emotions fresh over the Pahalgam tragedy, many believed it was not the right time to make a joke out of such a solemn issue. Social media users criticised the makers of the video for desensitizing the situation and trivializing its magnitude.

Hania Aamir was one of the first Pakistani stars to express her heartfelt condolences regarding the Pahalgam terror attack.  In a touching Instagram story, she posted:
“Tragedy anywhere is a tragedy for all of us. My heart is with the innocent lives affected by the recent events. In pain, in grief, and in hope—we are one.”
She replied it with another message highlighting humanity and collective pain:
“When innocent lives are taken, the pain isn’t theirs alone—it is ours. Regardless of where we’re from, sorrow is a language that everyone can understand. May we elect for humanity, always.”

Despite her solidarity with the victims, Hania found herself in the spotlight again—this time for reasons beyond her control. Reports suggest that following the meme controversy, she has been dropped from the upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, where she was rumored to be paired opposite Diljit Dosanjh. Sources claim the filmmakers are considering reshooting her scenes with another actress, though no official confirmation has been released.
